Nancy Geenen
Nancy J Geenen champions diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. She is the Visionary and CEO of Flexability, a certified B-Corps, recognized as Best for the World – Governance by B Labs. Uniting both business strategy and DEI consulting, Flexability champions equity and inclusion in the workplace. Nancy believes that company culture drives growth and profitability. Her enthusiasm and grit build cohesive, innovative teams that achieve results. She simplifies the complex because she attends to detail while focusing on strategy and scenario planning, skills that served her well in managing risk in “bet the company” trials. As a former Division 1 athlete, she knows how to lead as well as contribute to the team. She speaks directly to an issue that encourages open and honest communication. Nancy leads with an exploratory mindset that creates opportunities for idea exchange and development of best practices.
Nancy started her legal career at a financial services boutique, representing large financial institutions in workout and failed credit facilities. She developed her governance strategies while working at the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, as a Senior Legal Officer. Her team of 12 legal professionals from 10 countries negotiated or adjudicated over USD10 billion in construction and engineering claims from 400 companies from 45 countries, arising from the 1990 Gulf War.
Nancy joined Foley & Lardner, LLP upon her return to the US from Switzerland. As the Managing Partner of the Northern California offices, she restructured the offices to profitability while doubling the revenue, during which time the SF Business Times named the San Francisco Office a Best Places to Work. The SF Business Times named Nancy to the Bay Area Most Influential Women in Business for eight consecutive years and to the first class of its Hall of Fame. In 2012, Nancy founded and managed a trial consulting firm and grew that organization to USD6 million in revenue in five years, after which she sold her equity position.
Nancy is a graduate of Harvard Business School, OPM. She has two degrees from Stanford University, a master’s degree in Education and a bachelor’s degree in English. Nancy graduated from Santa Clara University, School of Law in 1988. Her board experience includes serving ten years on the Executive Committee of the Board of Galt Foundation, chairing the Nominating and Governance Committee and serving on both Audit and Compensation Committees. Galt Foundation is a self-funded, non-profit that grew from USD14million to USD32million during her tenure on the board. Nancy also served four years on the Executive Committee for the JCC Maccabi Sports Camp as Vice Chair and Chair of the Nominating and Governance Committee. She has served as a corporate sponsor board member for the Women Presidents Organization and as an independent director of the Executive Committee for the SF Chamber of Commerce.
