His responsibilities encompass a wide range of procurement activities, including vendor sourcing, purchasing, vendor contracts, and supplier diversity for the property. He is dedicated to ensuring that MGM Yonkers consistently meets or exceeds its spending goals with certified diverse suppliers. With a career spanning 43 years in the Hospitality Business, including 5 years with MGM Yonkers and 23 years of experience in purchasing and supply chain management, Mr. Hafizur brings a wealth of knowledge to his role. Prior to joining MGM Yonkers, he managed 3 hotels and 5000 apartments with the Jack Parker Corporation and the Meridien Hotel. Mr. Thornwell is focused on ensuring that MGM Resorts continues to meet or exceed its spending goals with certified diverse suppliers with the State of<br \/>\nMaryland and Prince George\u2019s County. Following his success with supplier diversity initiatives at MGM Resorts, Mr. Thornwell has been leading business diversity program development for MGM Resorts\u2019 Empire City Casino, as well as other MGM regional properties outside of Las Vegas.Mr. Thornwell has\u00a0 more than 12 years of purchasing and supply chain management experience in the food service industry. Prior to joining MGM Resorts, Mr. Thornwell served as National Product Manager\/Regional Buyer at The Chef\u2019s Warehouse in Hanover, MD, and Lead COP Buyer\/Product Line Manager at US Foods in Severn, MD. Mr. Thornwell earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in Marketing from the University of Maryland, College Park (Go Terps!). He also holds a Certified Purchasing Manager certification (C.P.M.), and a Certified Professional in Supply Management certification (CPSM) from the Institute for Supply Management (ISM).
