WBEC Metro NY and Greater DMV is proud to announce the launch of our Powerplay Pitch Competition!
The Powerplay Pitch Competition was created to highlight and celebrate our local Women’s Business Enterprises (WBEs), giving them opportunities to increase their visibility within both local and national networks. Participants will have access to educational sessions designed to refine their business pitches, gain meaningful exposure, and compete for a coveted spot in the WBENC National Competitions. There, they’ll have the opportunity to vie for a grand cash prize to further invest in their businesses while building lasting connections.
This year's competition will culminate with a live in person pitch finals August 13th in New York City and August 14th in Washington, D.C.
Here is the timeline:
- Applications Open: May 12th
- Applications End: June 2nd
- NY and DMV Finalists Announced: July 3rd
- Finalist Pitch Academy: July TBD
- WBEC Metro NY Live Competition: August 13th @ 11am
- WBEC Greater DMV Live Competition: August 14th at 11am
This Year’s Theme: Accelerate Your Story
In today’s dynamic business world, standing out is about more than showcasing your capabilities or solving a problem. It’s about effectively communicating who you are and what your company stands for. That’s why the focus of this year’s competition is creative and compelling storytelling.
Participants’ pitches must answer the central question:
What is your company’s message, and how can you communicate your story in a way that captivates and inspires?

- Complete the Application
Submit your pitch application based on the region where your business is headquartered—either Metro NY or Greater DMV. - Submit a Video Pitch
Upload a one-minute video pitch answering the question, “What is your company’s message?” Focus on delivering your story creatively and compellingly.
Metro NY and Greater DMV corporate partners will review and score all submissions. From each region, the Top 10 pitches will be selected to compete live and in person in August!
After the Powerplay Pitch Competition:
The top four finalists from each regional competition will advance to the WBENC National live virtual Semi-Final competition on October 27 and 28, where they’ll compete against WBEs from across the country for a spot in the National Finals, where a grand prize of $25,000 is up for grabs!
